One Hour of Solitude  1998

Invitational performance.

In considering the value of time spent alone, volunteers are invited to spend one hour sitting in a bench built into the wall of a gallery. They are invited to choose a singular focus for the hour, something they enjoy, leaving their shoes below. No reading.  The final tally, over a two-week period, totaled 47 hours of alone-time and undivided attention.
